Paige Winsper lives on the Old Hill estate in Falmouth with her 7-year-old daughter and has now been waiting over a year for the council to repair the damage caused to her flat by a leak.

Paige told Nub News that back in November 2021, she complained about a leak in her bathroom, after an inspector came out to fit a cap onto the leak, she was told that the state of her bathroom was actually illegal and work needed to be done to fix it.

After not hearing anything, she continued to complain but in March 2022 her mum had the awful news of being diagnosed with cancer. This meant Paige was then focusing on caring for her rather than dealing with the problems in her flat.

The damage in the bathroom got so bad that the woodwork and plastic began to peel and the toilet had even become loose with the screws not staying in. This, unfortunately, caused an accident for Paige's mum when she fell off the broken toilet.

Paige said that after this, she logged a massive complaint and even contacted her local MP Cherilyn Mackrory but had nothing but a generic email response saying she would get back to her.

Later in the year Paige's mum sadly passed away, after complaining again and again she managed to get another inspector round that told her the damage is starting to affect the whole property and that the contractors that did the work on the bathroom are no longer used because of the poor work done.

Paige then contacted a rent manager who told her that he wasn't aware of any complaint but was shocked to discover she had complained all the way back in November 2021.

As we now enter 2023 Paige has felt the only way, she can get help is to put a video on social media showing the state she and her daughter have been having to live in for all this time.

Having had to care for her mum in these conditions Paige is now clearly concerned about her daughter who she says has been to the doctors a number of times for tonsillitis and she is worried the damp conditions could be causing it.

The state of the bathroom is now so bad that Paige says they can no longer wash properly and the door even got jammed while her daughter was stuck inside the bathroom.

Local Councillor Jayne Kirkham has said she will be speaking to Paige soon and has heard back from the council.
