Penryn Town Council events committee have decided that subject to the PM's road map and the necessary risk assessment, Penryn Town Fair will go ahead this year, although in a slightly slimmed down version, it was revealed this week.
One of the Fair's favourite bands has already been confirmed for the event on Saturday 28th August, Soul Sensation will be entertaining residents and visitors alike outside of the Kings Bar in Broad Street.
They are also lining up other bands to play outside the Methodist Chapel, along with some small dance troupes.
"We would like to hear from all our usual stallholders and encourage them to book their stall as usual," said Mary May, chairman of the events committee at Penryn Town Council.
She continued:
"The fair brings many people into our historic town, it's a day when our shop's tills hopefully will be ringing when their goods are sold.
"Residents who live in the town and who would like a stall outside of their home or in their garden please get in touch."
Classic cars will also be putting in an appearance on Broad Street along with the Legion Riders and their machines.
This will be the first event in the Town since the Christmas Light Switch on back in 2019.
New bunting has been ordered for the Town, hanging baskets will be up, but the town council need supporters of the fair to get on board to help with marshalling on the day.
If you are interested get in touch with Penryn Town Council on 01326 373086.
Mary May added:
The Tour of Britain on 5th September will wind its way through Commercial Road. We hope businesses will decorate their shops and Penryn Town Council would like to decorate Quay Hill with children's/students street art."
For the major cycling event, a party in Trelawney Park is being organised with bands and refreshments. The Ritzy Belles are confirmed to be doing a show during the afternoon, along with a local dance troupe.
