We are delighted to have won the 'Experience of the Year' itravel Staycation Award for 2020/2021.

We were noted for our unique proposition which has transformed a historic setting, as well as our connection to our launching charity BF Adventure, with all our profits supporting Cornwall's most vulnerable children and young people.

Why Via Ferrata Cornwall was launched:

We recognised a unique opportunity to develop a world-leading experience to meet the growing appetite for nature-based adventure activities.

This would generate a profit to then enable us to meet the growing demand for BF Adventure's critical services. We built the first full Via Ferrata in South England – a unique high wire adventure that originated in the Alps to enable WW1 troops to cross mountains.

Winding through historic quarries, participants scale cliffs, brave the high wire bridge, tackle high challenges and zip-line through the air! Based on our stunning and remote site near Falmouth, this is the perfect place to escape the crowds.

Offering so much more than just an adrenaline rush, the Via Ferrata is an activity of tremendous value.

We believe in letting people do something under their own steam, on an adventure that conquers fears and builds confidence. It provides a real sense of achievement – and fun is at the heart of it!

Whether it's letting go halfway up a cliff edge or opting to dangle off the high wire bridge, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the freedom of pushing one's limits whilst being clipped into a safety cable at all times.

Who the Via Ferrata is for:

Our routes are for adventuresome children aged 8 upwards, through to adrenaline junkies. Our instructors are on hand to help beginners or those afraid of heights, whilst those with climbing experience can forgo the metal rungs and use the rock crevices to navigate the course.

As well as being the perfect adventure for families, couples and groups of friends, we also run corporate away days, sessions for school and youth groups and stag/hen and birthday parties.

Here's one of our favourite reviews:

"We were brilliantly looked after by our two instructors, Will and Harry, immediately named the two princes! The course is a clever balance between stimulus and fun. A great outing whether you are a mountain goat or a flat-lander. The views are amazing with cake and coffee to match." – Simon Tregoning, Classic Cottages.

What the itravel staycation award means to us:

"This award is a fantastic recognition of the huge team effort to create a world class adventure experience. Aside from building upon and celebrating Cornwall's quarrying heritage, it's helping support BF Adventure's essential services to Cornwall's most in need young people." – Adrian Richards, CEO of Via Ferrata Cornwall.

Other activities:

Our activities also include freshwater coasteering, climbing, archery and watersports, with stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing.

We also run a highly popular Adventure Holiday Club during the school holidays for children aged 6-13. Offering exciting childcare with wraparound options, activities range from raft-building to zip-lining, climbing, coasteering, watersports and archery.

Finally, we're creating wild play areas for children aged 3+ near our café and adventure trails with Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

The upcoming Business Challenge Event:

Scheduled for 10th September 2021, the business challenge event guarantees fun and laughter and will see local businesses competing in inclusive, krypton-factor style challenges in their teams to win our trophy. There will also be opportunities to network and receive a brand promotion, with the profits going towards BF Adventure's charitable programmes. If you're interested, then get in touch.

The impact on our charity:

The pandemic has compounded the challenges already faced by those supported by BF Adventure, which includes poverty, isolation, physical disabilities and mental health problems. With so many people unsafe at home, the Via Ferrata is providing crucial income to enable the continuation and development of BF Adventure's programmes.

Here's some feedback from a parent of one of the young people we've been privileged to support:

"For a child like Hetty (diagnosis of ASD, sensory processing difficulties & huge anxieties) BF offers everything she needs, but that a prescriptive education in a school couldn't. When Hetty comes to BF I see all that fear, doubt and insecurity just fade away…"
