Roadworks through the middle of Penryn begin in September.

Major gas mains work is set to get underway through Penryn next week, lasting for around two months.

The work is being done to upgrade the current gas system in the town, beginning on the 6th September, expected to be completed by the 5th November.

The restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day, meaning traffic that usually flows through Market Street will be diverted to Commercial Road, The Praze, to Brown's Hill.

Kevin Bryant, Cornwall Council's Head of Highways and Infrastructure, added:

"Nothing in this Order will apply to cyclists, traffic associated with the works required within the highway specified above, any vehicle being used for the purposes of an undertaker in an emergency, such as loss of utility supplies, and anything done with the permission of or at the discretion of a police officer. Pedestrian and Vehicular access to

residents and businesses will be maintained."
