A new theatre company has created a Christmas play based on the memories of people in local care and dementia homes.
The BoxWorks Theatre company will be performing their new production, Carol's Christmas, at Falmouth Rugby Club this Sunday (15th December).
The play was written around interviews with members of homes in Falmouth, Truro and Helston.
The show entangles the interviewees' real memories of Christmases gone by, into a poignant tale about what the festive season should really mean.
Falmouth Nub News spoke to Henry Irving, member of Boxworks Theatre, he said:
"We have had so much help from people. It really is a show about the community and for the community.
"We want to tell stories that might have been forgotten about.
"It really came through when speaking and meeting these lovely people that the spirit of Christmas is different now.
"It wasn't all about present buying back then, it was just about the people you spent it with. We wanted to get that through in the performance."
BoxWorks is founded by five recent acting graduates; Henry Irving, Robyn Collins, Ollie Mc Farlane, Eleanor Hawkes and River Owsley-Brown.
All graduating in the summer, they decided to stay in their University town to create something they were passionate about.
Now, just two months after the decision to make a Christmas piece in time for December 2019, they are ready to show Cornwall what they have created.
Doors open at 6:30pm and the bar will be serving drinks before and after the show.
£1 from every ticket will go to Dementia UK.
