The Cornwall Film Festival held their second networking event of 2019 last night at the Falmouth Hotel.

The event was a chance for people with a range of skills in the film and TV sector to get together, in an attempt to strengthen a film support network in Cornwall.

The charity was set up in 2002 by a group of filmmakers looking to educate the public further in cinematography. The organisation has since gone from strength to strength with their projects now reaching 450,000 people.

Louise Fox, Director at Cornwall Film Festival, said:

"We are the only organisation from the media industry that operate in Cornwall, we bring together people from right across all the different media sectors, we believe that if we work together and we share our knowledge, that is both in production, and training then we can grow stronger as a community of filmmakers and media practitioners.

"We ran one earlier on in the year in Truro, and we got people who were set designers and screenwriters, and the idea is to connect like-minded people."

From November 9th – 14th, Cornwall Film Festival will host its flagship film festival, a three day event showcasing filmmaking talent, and preparation is well underway, Louise Fox, added:

"A lot of people have never been to a film festival before, and so we want them to come and see the most interesting films that won't be shown anywhere else in the South West or in Britain, we had an international premiere last year that nobody had seen, and you see film in a different light when you get to meet the directors and people behind the production.

"We have had just under 500 submissions already this year, there is still time to submit, the theme of the festival this year is evolve."

The closing date for film submissions is June 30th. The top filmmakers in each category will have their work screened at Cornwall Film Festival events across the county. The winner of each category will win a trophy at the award ceremony.
