Team from Falmouth assists as series of flood related incidents sweep the county

This morning a response team from Falmouth was on hand as a series of flood-related incident hit the county following heavy rainfall.

Appliances from Truro, St Mawes, Mevagissey, St Austell, Bodmin, and Wadebridge, along with water rescue teams from St Austell and Falmouth, responded to a number of incidents.

The services responded to a number of domestic flooding incidents in the St Mawes and Portscatho area. Firefighters assisted to remove floodwater and to make the properties safe.

Resources also responded to two water rescue incidents.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said:

"The first in the St Mawes area involved a vehicle which was stuck in floodwater. Firefighters assisted the occupant from the vehicle.

"The second incident involved two persons who were trapped by floodwater near a river embankment close to Bodmin. Firefighters used water rescue equipment to rescue the persons."
