Great Western Railway has announced cancellations across its network that will affect Falmouth.

There will be disruption for Falmouth rail users during Storm Eunice as Great Western Railway has cancelled trains across its whole network.

A rare red warning has been issued as Storm Eunice strikes Falmouth and surrounding areas today, Friday (February 18th).

It is expected to cause significant disruption and dangerous conditions due to extremely strong winds between 7am-12pm.

The Red Weather Warning for wind covers southwest coastal areas of the UK, where the most significant gusts in exposed areas could be in excess of 90mph this morning.

Great Western Railway has announced a cancellation to services on all routes - including between Falmouth and Truro. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

A Great Western Railway update reads:

"Train services between Truro and Falmouth Docks will be suspended.

"Storm Eunice is likely to bring damaging winds across large parts of the UK on Friday 18th February. The Met Office has upgraded their severe weather warning to red the highest level for parts of southwest England and South Wales.

"As a result, there will be no services operating today, Friday 18th February, and we are advising customers not to travel. Local bus and road transport providers have also suspended services on Friday, so there will be no alternatives in place."
