Nana Darby, a third year Falmouth student and musician, organised the event to raise money for a 10k run she is doing in September.

The event, which was held at underground bar Small Ships, featured five musicians - including Nana herself.

Nub News Falmouth attended the event and spoke to Nana before her set, she said:

"This is important to me as it's an opportunity to honour my Grandpa's memory through genuine care and kindness, for a charity that was paramount to him.

"It's amazing having my friends come together to bring their beautiful music and warm energy to the night. It doesn't just feel like you're throwing a couple of quid in the donation box.

"Music is an art form that provokes empathy instantaneously and I'm so grateful my friends can give that tonight to such a sweet audience."

The music throughout the night delivered a range of genres, including: blues, soul, funk and R&B.

Páll Johnson, a musician who opened the gig, said:

"It's always an honour to play at a charity event. Big thank you to Nana for having me."

Speaking to Nana further about the importance of hosting the event at Small Ships, she stated:

"Small ships is an non-intimidating and cosy venue and the staff mirror this.

"They are so friendly and supportive of student endeavours.

"It's small size also makes it automatically intimate which in my experience makes the music very connected to the audience. It's lovely."
