Last week (25th) Sean Stratton and his family distributed sunflowers at Woodlane Campus with proceeds going to charity.

The sunflowers all found new homes and were being handed out to students across Falmouth to 'bring a little happiness' and raise money for MacMillan Truro.

Sean Stratton and co distributed the 48 sunflowers, after starting to grow them as an activity in the first lockdown.

Sean told Nub News:

"I started growing them for the children and adults on my street during lockdown and thought I should really start trying to raise some money for charity."

All the money from the event is to be given to MacMillan Truro, a local charity specialising in cancer treatments.

Although there wasn't an obligation to make a donation £82 was still raised, "I know they'll be super happy for the donations but also that we're thinking of them and all the hard work they do year in year out," he said.

"Whenever I see a sunflower, I smile and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's simple really, the more sunflowers, the more smiles. It would be great to see them dotted all over Falmouth," Sean added.

The family hope that the sunflowers will continue to bring a smile to everyone walking around Falmouth. The flowers should last until September with ongoing care and the warmth of the summer heat.
