There seems to be another change of plans to what was previously going to be a sports bar on Church Street.

The site, 34 Church Street was set to go under the name The Dark Horse Sports Diner as it was given the go-ahead in October - but a new licence has been submitted to step away from the sports bar theme.

The new licence application has been submitted for "The Cornish Bank Cafe And Restaurant" for regulated entertainment, late-night refreshment and sale of retail of alcohol.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Council's licensing department told Nub News The Dark Horse Sports Diner has been transferred into the name of Saw & Stage Ltd.

They said:

"They have now applied for a new licence as they want to be more of a café/restaurant rather than a sports bar. If their licence is granted they will be surrendering the licence they currently have."

The plans show the building with an outside rear courtyard seating area, work has seemingly got underway clearing out the site as people were inside the building last night (19th).

A notice on the window of the building reads:

"We Saw and Stage Ltd give notice that we have applied to Cornwall Council as Licensing Authority for the grant of a premises licence in respect of The Cornish Bank Cafe and Restaurant."
