A resident has coloured a black and white photo of Penryn which is said to be from the 1900s.

David O'Neill decided to colour the image during being in lockdown and has received a lot of positivity on social media.

The colouring brought the black and white image to life with amazing results.

David O'Neill spoke to Nub News about his process:

"The colouring process takes a long time.

"Firstly I try to imagine the colours as they may have been, or do some research on the internet and obviously living in Penryn look at the place, then I try to make the colours as accurate as I think they should be.

"Each colour is then added to the subject on a layer, so however many colours there are each colour will have its own layer, so if there are 15 colours then there will be 15 layers stacked on top of each other within my editing software.

"Each item within the picture will, therefore, be coloured and saved on a separate layer and at the end, all saved together to make the image."

He shared the photos on social media, stating:

"During the lockdown, I thought I would try my hand at colourising an old black and white image of Penryn, found in the Cornwall Museum website.

"Update from the website states that this is from the early 1900s."
