A prototype of WorkFloat, a self-propelled floating work platform that 'folds' up, has been launched in Penryn.

The team behind WorkFloat launched the concept at SeaWork last year. The folding work barge also won the overall 'Spirit of Innovation' award at the European Commercial Marine Awards.

Founder and director, Toby Budd, told Nub News:

"We are really pleased with the way it is going, it's been very very hard work to get here but now we have a prototype we have significantly interested and are getting quotes out.

"The gap between having an idea and then getting it to market and making sales is HUGE. Especially an innovative product like ours where we also have to create the market and do a significant amount of work to prove ourselves.

"The challenges have been massive, but we pushed on and will continue to do so."
