A bid has been lodged to build a block of flats between two developments on Avenue Road Falmouth.

Submitted by Trevaskis Design Solutions on behalf of the applicant Mr Herron - the plans show an ambition to erect three, one-bedroom flats at 9 Avenue Road.

The design is driven by what has previously been approved at No 10 and 8.

The planning statement reads:

"The applicant's desire is to maximise the site and really liked the design delivered at no.8 so it was therefore decided to concentrate development as flats and three small flats we believe is what is needed as the CLP.

"In terms of the design philosophy, the applicants wanted something less bland than the development at No 10 and in particular, wanted a similar modern design like the one at No.8."

The proposal is situated over 40m from the host dwelling and sits between the developments at No.8 and 10.

A similar scheme has already been built at number 8.

Highways had no objection in principle to access via the rear lane for the dwelling rear of No 10 and 8 and there are no safety issues with the development. Vehicles can turn within the site and leave in a forward direction.

Parking is available in front of the flat development for two cars and one at the rear so that there is one space per dwelling.

The applicant concludes:

"This is a development which provides three new dwellings close to the centre of town and in a modern and 'green' envelope. The style and scale of development would seem to be very much what is required in the future for Falmouth, making the best use of a central site."

The status of the application is "awaiting decision".
