Residents have expressed their concerns over an application for a four to five-storey development near Bosvale Community Centre.

The build is understood to be designed for the elderly.

The description of the application is as follows:

"The concept is to provide independent living for people with care needs in self-contained apartments in a secure and supportive environment. Residents' social and care needs will be met through the provision of a range of communal facilities such as dining room/lounge, hairdressing & therapy room, activities room, laundry, buggy charging store, staff and ancillary facilities.

"As part of the proposals, the community centre is being replaced with new accommodation that will form part of the new building.

"The site will benefit from an on-site manager and in-house care to suit individual requirements will be arranged as necessary. The intention is to provide a 'Home for Life' that ensures both the privacy and dignity of residents is respected whilst creating a thriving, socially balanced community."

The plans have been responded to negatively by members of the community on the council planning page.

One comment reads:

"We have lost enough green space in Falmouth, this is not a necessary development and would mean more green space lost. The buildings are not in keeping with the area they are too tall and ugly.

"Extra traffic on the Boslowick is not needed it is busy enough. The drainage is not adequate and losing green space to concrete would only add to the risk of flooding."

Another commented on how the area would be affected:

"The local area is losing its green space and removing this would be a travesty to this area. The proposed dwelling would be completely out of place and out of character for the area. The traffic already using the roads in this area is already chaos and adding this dwelling would impact this severely."
