Plans have been submitted to extend parts of The Pier Cafe on Prince of Wales Pier, Falmouth.

The planning application details alterations and additions to the popular waterside cafe including an extended outdoor seating area, a security railing/gate and an ice cream kiosk.

The extended seating area will be a raised non-slip timber decking area providing an additional seating area to assist with social distancing, "also provides seating in a more visible area to passing trade and affords customers panoramic views of the sun later in the day," the application reads.

A 2m high-security gate will also be put in place completely enclosing the outdoor seating area when the cafe is closed.

Another addition will be a timber frame constructed ice cream kiosk located by the entrance of the cafe - as shown in the architectural drawings.

The application is awaiting a decision.
