Mariners Fish & Chips in Penryn is set to get a new feature to the shop after plans were approved for a canopy.
A retractable canopy is set to be installed outside the front of the shop on Lower Market Street.
The application reads:
"The reason for the installation of a canopy over the shopfront has been brought about through the measures required to provide a safe and healthy environment due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
"The applicant is very keen to make the premises as safe as possible for both staff and customers.
"The takeway public area at the front of the premises is limited and to enable adequate social distancing in this very popular local fish and chip shop customers regularly have to queue on the pavement at the front of the shop.
"Although the canopy will extend over the public area, it will be retractable so that when the shop is closed it will close back against the shop fascia."
A conclusion to the application reads:
"We consider that the proposal will not adversely affect any neighbouring properties or the local area and the proposal will provide much-needed shelter for customers during adverse weather
conditions during these uncertain times." There were no objections from the Falmouth & Penryn Conservation Committee. [H3] Carry on the conversation on our Twitter and Facebook pages. [.H2]
