Penryn holds Falklands War anniversary service
Penryn Town Hall was the setting for the 40th anniversary service of the Falklands War.
Falkland veterans returned to Penryn Town Hall last night (14th) as they did 40 years ago. Back in 1982, they were presented a scroll from then Mayor Jack Chinn.
The Cornish Highland Piper played as guests arrived. Members of the Penryn Branch of the Royal British Legion were in attendance along with Deputy Mayor Mary May who led the proceedings, Penryn Town Councillors, Saracen Award winners, and other guests.
Reverend Ian Floom led 'The Address' and Chairman of the RBL Tony Hendra gave 'The Exhortation'. Victor Williams read the 'Kohima Dedication'.
The service was followed by a laying of crosses and wreaths at Penryn Memorial Gardens with refreshments provided back at the Town Hall.
"We are very grateful for a number of the veterans who travelled a long way to join us," a spokesperson for Penryn Town Council added.
