Penryn braces itself for Christmas Lights switch on

This Saturday will mark the start of the festive season in Penryn as the town prepares to host the annual Lantern Parade and Christmas Light switch on.

St Gluvias Church will be holding a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday in the Temperance Hall from 9am till 12pm.

At 5pm Tanya's Courage Trust will be hosting a Christmas Craft and Gift Fayre in the Temperance Hall.

Santa will be attending along with Camborne 2nd Boys and Girls Brigade and University group The Chorus from 6pm.

Penryn Academy will be taking part in the lantern parade at the Memorial Gardens on Quay Hill and their choir will sing carols.

There will be an introduction at 6:30pm delivered by Chairman of the Christmas Lights Committee, Councillor Mark Snowdon.

The lights are being switched on by guest of honour David 'Benji' Thomas after the introduction.

Mayor Charles Wenmoth will be revealing the winner of the Shop Window Competition.

Refreshments at the Town Hall for invited guests.

The roads will be closed from 5pm till 9pm with free parking available.
