Parents made aware after boy faced by masked male in Boslowick
By Joseph Macey 16th Sep 2021
Parents were put on alert this morning following a concerning post on a community page.
Last night near Boslowick Garage, a boy was walking home and was frightened by a person wearing a mask.
The post is as follows:
"As parents, I would like to make people aware that tonight an incident happened in Boslowick, Falmouth.
"I had agreed that my son walked home from a class at 5.45 as it is usually very safe here. He is a sensible lad.
"I regret letting him walk the short distance to our home. I had been on the phone to him at the time as I wanted him to not worry about walking.
"As he got past the garage in Boslowick there was a teenager just past the river section in the forest part.
"Hidden in the darkest section wearing a mask described as having, purple glow sticks outside the mask, crosses on the eye area, a big joker style smile, wearing all black except for the mask.
"Two girls who sounded intoxicated to me on the other end of the phone found it very funny when the teenager jumped out on my son, to stand watching laughing at a terrified child while he runs away from this. That behaviour is unacceptable.
"Parents need to know what their teenagers are up to. I know it's bomb fire night but my son is in a state now scared, he thought he was going to be hurt by these three teenagers.
"My son is home safe now, but I think people should have a word with there children if this does sound like your children. I will not be letting my son out on his own now in what used to be a safe area."
Falmouth Nub News reported recently that Boslowick Barbers, owned by Sarrelle McCann and her partner Sam, had become a safe spot in the area for people to pop in and chat or discard of items they no longer wanted.
Sarelle commented on the post: "This really saddens me to read this, how terrible for a child to experience something so awful so close to home, l will keep my eyes and ears open for you.
"Our shop is open till 6pm, if your son needs any help anytime then please tell him he is welcome to sit and wait for an adult anytime. I really hope the little nuggets are found if they were my child I would be so embarrassed."
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "Police are aware of reports of a teenage boy being approached by a male wearing a mask on Boslowick Road, shortly before 6pm on Tuesday 5 November.
"The teenager made his way out of the area safely. The Neighbourhood Team has been made aware of this matter."
