There will be new faces at Muddy Beach after the Penryn riverside bistro was acquired by the owners of The Windjammer, Falmouth.

Windjammer team Jake Heslip and Oliver Growcott-Smith announced the purchase of Muddy Beach in Jubilee Wharf this week.

The branding will be staying the same but with subtle changes such as an increase to the opening hours, menu size, and offerings.

"We will be taking all the best things from here (Windjammer) and putting it up there," they told Nub News.

Once they are fully staffed Muddy Beach will be open seven days a week 9am until late.

Jake and Ollie opened The Windjammer, Grove Place, in July 2020. They hit the ground running which gave them a platform to expand their business.

They had been on the lookout for their next project and had a drive to "want more" - Muddy Beach presented the perfect opportunity.

Discussing the success of the business, Ollie said:

"I put it down to small details, not overlooking anything, I think you have to put the work in if you are starting a hospitality business. Jake and I both put in 60 plus hours a week. We support our staff and make sure they are happy whether thats with little gifts to reward their hard work. The staff are the most important thing and if they're happy they work well, and the customers are then happy as well. If you put that work in and treat everybody right. It all contributes to create a positive work environment."

The Windjammer is also hiring as up to 20 members of staff will be needed for the expansion. Current members of staff will be switching over alongside new faces.

Ollie commented:

"We don't want to reinvent something that already works. The people before us did a good job. We just need to bring the energy back. It needs a bit of investment back into the building. Essentially, there is already a good platform and a good name. It doesn't make sense changing the whole thing. We will take food service up there all day, and a bigger variety of drinks. We are really looking forward to it."

"It is in safe hands and run by a local family," he added.

Muddy Beach will close for a refurbishment on May 23rd. It will reopen on May 30th.
