One of Falmouth's oldest preschools, The Crypt, is fundraising for major upgrades.

The Crypt, based Killigrew Street, opened in 1970 and since then has nurtured and educated countless pupils, preparing them both for the transition to 'big' school and life beyond.

This was meant to be a huge fundraising year for the school as they turned 50 in 2020 but haven't been able to do any fundraising at all due to the covid pandemic.

They are now trying to raise as much as possible to transform the interior of the pre-school.

The pre-school has only had light refurbishments throughout its history and much of the furniture is now beginning to show it's age.

Treasurer for the school Rowenna Brock told Nub News:

"We want to update as much of our fixtures and fittings in our fiftieth year as possible - but have initially set our sights on new chairs, tables and toy/equipment storage for the space. We want to buy quality furniture that will last another 50 years.

"Please help us reach our target, and perhaps even go beyond it - every penny we raise will be spent improving this fabulous little pre-school for many, many years to come."

So far they have managed to raise 76% of their initial £500 target but are hoping to exceed this to create a totally refurbished room for the children for the next 50 years.
