Nub News reviews new Falmouth Cafe & Bistro La Peniche
New Falmouth cafe and bistro La Peniche hosted an afternoon of brunch with a one-off 10% discount, Nub News paid a visit to review the food.
Owned by Tony and Kate Elliott-Cannon, the bistro opened at the end of August with much attention as it became the first floating restaurant in Falmouth.
The food is a mix of English and French-inspired dishes from the boats Falmouth Breton links and from the couple's trips to Paris, Chalon Sur Soane, Fonteinbleau, Saint Cloud and Poses.
Nub News spoke to Tony and Kate in December during the early stages of planning.
Now the restaurant is fully operational, a beautiful setting on North Quay I took two of my friends (Ollie and Bea) along to brunch and had a superb meal in a relaxed environment.
The waiter was quick to our table and very attentive, I ordered Hake goujons, salad and fries.
The food came out and looked like it had been taken real care with (reference to picture) placed on the plate very carefully, my friend also ordered the same and they came out identical which gives an indication of the quality here.
The batter on the hake was so light and the fish was flaky inside.
Sometimes you might gloss over the salad but it was given a lot of attention here, pickled radish, rocket, pumpkin seeds, all very fresh and complimented the rest of the dish.
A very affordable meal at just £12.00. If you aren't a fan of fish there are other items available, steak sandwich, Croque Monsieur, soup of the day, lots to choose from.
Overall, tasty food in a beautiful location, what more can you ask for?
