Revised plans have been submitted for apartments at the former site of Sheldon House Nursing Home, Sea View Road - after the previous application was rejected.
The planning application follows a previous application which sought approval for 34 residential apartments on the same site but was refused permission by the Council's Central Sub-Area Planning Committee on 15th June.
The Planning Committee refused the application citing the following reason on the Decision Notice:
"By reason of its excessive height and unsympathetic design, the proposed building would be harmful to the character of the Falmouth Conservation Area contrary to policies of the Cornwall Local Plan Strategic Policies, the requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework 2019 and the emerging Falmouth Neighbourhood Development Plan."
The new application reduces the height of the eastern three by blocks by one additional storey, taking the total number of proposed dwellings down from 34 to 28.
The development will be subdivided into five pavilion-style buildings accessed via two cores both with lifts and stairs.
The planning statement concludes:
"The proposals reflect extensive pre-application engagement and revisions made to meet the views of the local planning authority and the design review panel.
"As a result, the proposals are considered to represent a quality scheme which will enhance the local area."
