At the weekend, co-owner of The Windjammer Jake Heslip cycled from Falmouth to Lands End raising money for Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal.
Cycling 46.44 miles in nearly 6 hours, Jake and his friend Mark made it to Lands End on Saturday (13th).
In the process, they have raised nearly £1,500 for the Wallace & Gromit Grand Appeal, an appeal that supports Bristol Children's Hospital by funding pioneering, life-saving equipment and research.
Despite the wind and the rain, they weren't going to rearrange it so it was part of the challenge.
Speaking after the ride, Jake told Nub News:
"The first stretch seemed tough from Falmouth to Stithians Lake, it just seemed to take a while for my legs to get going. From Stithians Lake to Hayle seemed quick although we really started to notice the battle against the wind which was against us the whole journey.
"Out of Hayle some decent hills were conquered and then the road from there following around the coastline was beautiful and there were lots of history to be seen from Towednack to Lands End.
"The last stretch was so windy we were having to pedal hard just to go downhill. Then the amazing sight of Lands End and we made it. All in all, we battled 46.44 miles of wind while dodging hail showers."
When Jake first setup the fundraiser he set the target of £100 which was hit quickly and the total kept rising to around £1415 - a total that could fund a vital months accommodation for a family, just minutes from their baby's bedside.
Jake added:
"I'm so thankful to all that have donated as it's hard for any fundraising due to the covid restrictions, charities really rely on this."
