NatWest Falmouth will close in August.

NatWest has announced it will be closing its Falmouth branch due to fewer people coming into the bank.

NatWest on Market Street will close on 24th August 2022.

The ease of mobile and online banking means there have been some "tough choices" about which banks can stay open.

In Falmouth NatWest saw:

• Between 2017 and 2019, counter transactions for personal customers have decreased by 20%.

• The branch was used by 20 personal customers on a regular basis in 2019.

• In 2019 62% of personal customers using the branch also chose to use Online Banking or our mobile app.

• The branch was used by 66 business customers on a regular basis in 2019.

The next nearest branches are Truro, Camborne, and St Austell.

As well as NatWest, it has been announced in recent months that HSBC and Halifax will also be closing.

A NatWest spokesperson commented:

"As with many industries, most of our customers are shifting to mobile and online banking, because it's faster and easier for people to manage their financial lives.

"We understand and recognise that digital solutions aren't right for everyone or every situation, and that when we close branches we have to make sure that no one is left behind.

"We take our responsibility seriously to support the people who face challenges in moving online, so we are investing to provide them with support and alternatives that work for them."
