There were reports yesterday of a heavy police presence in Swanpool which lead to the arrest of a man in his 50s.

Police carried out a stop check on a suspected stolen vehicle in the Swanpool area, Falmouth, at around 8am on Thursday, 8th April.

An eye witness said that between 8-10 officers were on the scene.

A 51-year-old man, from Reading, was arrested and charged for various offences.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson told Nub News:

"Neil Shorter, 51, of Southcote Road, Reading, Berkshire, has been charged with a sexual assault on a woman, using a vehicle on a public highway without third party insurance and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent."

He is due to appear at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on Friday 9th April.
