On a day that has been drowned in torrential rain, there is no better time to get cosy and celebrate National Fish and Chips day at local chip shop legend, Harbour Lights.

Nub News Falmouth braved the weather to visit the chippy to see what they had in store for the biggest day on the chip shop calendar.

Harbour Lights employees were sporting costumes this afternoon that honoured the nation's favourite food: including a fish, a chip and even a pea pod.

To thank the customers for coming and celebrating with them, the restaurant will be giving a free glass of prosecco with every order.

The takeaway part of the chip shop is also giving out freebies, with customers being treated to a free portion of chips all day.

We spoke to Marketing Manager, Logan Fraser, about why this day is so special:

"It's the day that celebrates all the different people that go into making a portion of fish and chips.

"The fisherman, farmers, oil producers, mushy pea processors. There are so many different aspects that go into making a portion of fish and chips that people wouldn't normally be aware of.

"I imagine that many people see it as a sort of fast food place. You go in and it's already there and prepared for you - but everything we do is with a bit of love, including freshly cooked ingredients.

"This year we're also going to be doing a competition in the takeaway where customers can win fish and chips free for two months. All they have to do is leave their email address and name and we'll choose a winner randomly."

Harbour Lights were recently awarded a place in the 'Top 10 Fish and Chip shops in the country'. Learn more about the award by pressing the button down below.
