There will be another community meeting to discuss the future of Ships & Castles.

Pendennis Leisure is hosting a meeting this evening (6th) at Princess Pavilion from 7pm-9pm with the topic of devolution on top of the agenda.

The last meeting was held in May where Falmouth teachers told people that children were no longer taking swimming lessons as the costs of the Ships & Castles closure are felt.

Ahead of the meeting, Pendennis Leisure said: "The continuous feedback from so many in the community is very sobering and serves as a stark reminder of how many people have been affected by Ships & Castles closure and why reopening the centre is a priority.

"In just over 24 hours, the results from our swimming survey show that we have hundreds (if not thousands) of children in the area who cannot swim 25m and who cannot access swimming lessons both privately (the lessons are full/too far away/not the right level) and for their statutory school swimming lessons that Cornwall Council has an obligation to provide.

"We ask you to join us this evening to keep the conversation alive and to continue to try to find a way through our current situation.

"We must have a swimming pool/ leisure facility. The headland must not be developed on. We still believe that by working together we can achieve our aims."
