People in Falmouth and Penryn are being offered the chance to take part in a free local budgeting course to help them stay in control of their finances following the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Emmanuel Baptist Church is partnering up with national debt help charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to run a CAP Money Course for anyone locally who would like to learn money management skills so they can live with less financial pressure.

Glyn Lumley, local CAP Money Coach said:

"The past few months have been very challenging for all of us. Many people in Falmouth and Penryn have seen their hours cut, lost their jobs, and an increase in bills for things like food and energy. Also, many of the COVID-19 support schemes that were helping to keep people afloat have now ended.

"We've all got different financial challenges but getting our money under control, preparing a budget, and having a clear picture of what's coming in and going out is so essential to a happy and healthy life.

"The CAP Money Course can give you the tools you need to control your cash and feel in control of your finances even if you are on a low income."

The course will launch on 11th November 7:30pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Western Terrace, Falmouth TR11 4QJ.

The course runs for three weeks and consists of a weekly group session. It will be delivered by a trained CAP Money Coach and COVID-19 safety measures will be in place.

The course is designed to give a broad picture of finances, including sessions on building and balancing a budget, the CAP Money system, maintenance, and savings.

A former CAP Money Course delegate at EBC, said:

"Really friendly group, I felt at ease and it really helped me to control my budget. It's an excellent course. I would recommend it to anyone."
