Flushing village has come together to raise money for Falmouth Sorting Office and Trescobeas Surgery.

In a true show of community strength and togetherness, Flushing has managed to raise £740.

Owners of Flushing Village Shop, Pete and Sandy, started the donation box in their store back in April after Pete was furloughed.

"I just wanted to do something to give back," Pete told Nub News.

The shop incentivised donations through different items, including car stickers, which residents bought for much more than their worth.

Pete said: "It was amazing to see how generous people were. It really is a testament to our community and village to see how much people want to help."

The couple decided that they wanted to split the money raised between both the surgery and the postal office.

"Both services have been amazing during the pandemic," Pete continued.

The store and village will be featured on BBC Spotlight tonight at 6.30pm.
