Flushing residents fight back against planned development of former Methodist Chapel

Flushing residents are opposing a planning application for the old Methodist Chapel in Kersey Road to be turned into flats.

The planning application which says, "Conversion of the former methodist church to create 3 residential apartments" has been causing unrest in the community.

Petition creator, Vincent Roberts, said the application "is totally in conflict with the wishes of the residents of Flushing."

Residents are worried about the application as they say that without any planned off-street parking, cars on the road cause a hazard.

A youtube video, which you can see at the top of this article, shows an ambulance being stuck behind a parked car on Kersey Road just outside of the Methodist Chapel.

Flushing residents are hoping that a neighbourhood consultation will take place regarding the development.

One resident said: "Parking in the village is already a big problem. Pavements full of cars. No car park."

Another resident stated: "The proposed apartments are clearly unsuitable for permanent residence, the building works and occupation by holidaymakers will exacerbate an already intolerable traffic situation."
