A fire has broken out in Falmouth this evening.

Details of the incident were released by the fire service shortly before 9pm.

Residents are asked to avoid Church Street and Arwenack Street in Falmouth whilst emergency services work at the scene.

A Cornwall Fire and Rescue spokesperson said the first crews were on the scene in 4 minutes with further resources joining from Truro and Tolvaddon.

Original reports suggested that people were involved in the fire but they have since been accounted for.

Firefighting is still underway.

Devon and Cornwall Police have put road closures in place on Market Street, Church Street and Arwenack Street. They have advised residents to avoid the area.
