Emergency services have blocked off the one-way system in Falmouth this afternoon following a fire.

Fire crews from Falmouth, Tolvaddon, and Truro were called to Kebab on the Corner, Market Strand just after 2:30pm, Tuesday (3rd).

The fire was located in ducting at the rear of a takeaway.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service revealed more details, adding:

"Firefighters, some wearing breathing apparatus, are using a hose reel and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Due to the construction of the property and hidden voids, a further two fire crews have been requested, to assist with stopping the fire spreading."

Market Strand is blocked off with motorists urged to avoid the area.

An update as of 4:15pm read:

"The fire has been extinguished and fire crews will be leaving the scene shortly."

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service issued a further update at 5:30pm, saying:

"Fire service vehicles have moved and the road is now clear."
