Parklive Acts and Features - September 2020

The award-winning Parklive continues to improve the quality of performances for the Virtual One #5 of 2020 and intends to keep its promise to continue bringing local music directly to the homes of people in Falmouth and Penryn, Cornwall, throughout the UK and across the waters.

Parklive provides the platform for Cornwall-based performers in what has become a unique monthly virtual event during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Parklive will be broadcast on Parklive Youtube Channel on Sunday, 27th September from 12.00 to 1800, featuring an exciting and varied line up of music, spoken word and cooking. This Sunday's lineup includes:

Deri Sharman - Deri is an alternative indie artist, taking inspiration from her previous folk-influenced writing, her new music embodies a darker, fuller sound with fuzzy guitars accompanied by haunting vocals. This performance is a stripped back version, but she hopes to be playing with her full band when it is safe to.

Rhys Hurd - Rhys is a guitarist and vocalist from Brixham, Devon currently studying in Falmouth. His music is hard rock with a touch of blues and post-grunge, with an uplifting energetic sound that "represents hope and positivity"

Nicola Edwards & Richard Trethewey - Nicola and Richard - two long time Cornish friends and musicians who have come together to sing their original songs accompanied by fiddle, cittern, keys, guitar and ukulele. During their jams, they explore creating vocal harmonies and enriching their own songs as a duo.

Dark Horse featuring Val Baker and Thom Pod - Americana Country Blues stories set to music by two well-heeled artists, Valerie Baker and Thom Podgoretsky

Joshface - is a DIY synth-punk project based in the south-west, combining driving guitars with hard-hitting drums and catchy synths.

Joshface writes and produces everything himself; playing and programming every instrument to create a high-octane blend of sounds. His next EP: 'The Delicate Art of Destruction' releases next month!

Long Lost Friend (Featuring Gareth Lee) - After years of gigging music had somehow become more of a chore than a passion. It felt like it was time to step away from it for a while but a chance meeting with an old friend sparked a new creative fuse and the songs for Long Lost Friend were born.

Barry & the Crumpets - 4 piece fusion band, at its heart Jazz-Funk, also incorporating Blues, Soul, Reggae, Ska, Latin and Arabic styles

We also feature Songs and Tunes for Black History Month

Mac Dunlop - Mac is a composer, poet and performer. You can find him at macdunlop.bandcamp.com, soundcloud.com/macdunlop or at thepianolounge.wordpress.com.

Paddy Haughton brings more Cornish stories to the afternoon. Want more? You can hear the Short Story Hour with Penryn Community Theatre on Fridays at 2pm on Source FM.
