A father and son duo from Brighton are taking on the huge task of cycling over 300 miles to Falmouth.

Bruce (Dad) and Jude Watt (Son) are raising money for Penryn based charity Sea Sanctuary.

Help them to reach their fundraising target here.

Last year the family booked a holiday in Cornwall for the summer but with the Coronavirus hitting there was a strong chance that all holiday accommodation would not be allowed to open.

Following a family discussion, Bruce and Jude decided to make a holiday out of the situation, a father-son cycling and wild camping trip to Cornwall.

They would cycle the 300+ to Falmouth, grab an ice cream and then head back by car.

Bruce Watt said:

"While discussing it with mates, a friend suggested if we are going to do a road trip why not do it for charity. Ok, we thought, but which one?

"With mental health being a huge concern at the moment with the Coronavirus lockdown badly affecting some people who already had mental health issues or others who had started to develop anxieties due to the isolation, we decided mental health was fitting and felt right.

"I hunted for a charity locally and further a-field that would be suitable and came across 'Sea Sanctuary' located in Penryn. After reading their website I was convinced this was the right charity for us. They use the sea to heal, which made total sense to us and is obviously very close to our hearts."

They left Brighton on the 1st of August for their first-ever bike tour, "if you come across two knackered and lost cyclists please shout out "Falmouth that way," Bruce said.

A spokesperson for Sea Sanctuary added:

"Sea Sanctuary is always so grateful when someone chooses us to benefit from their fundraising efforts. We have the utmost respect for Father and son Bruce and Jude are cycling from Brighton to Falmouth to raise money for Sea Sanctuary! Keep pedalling."
