A trio of Falmouth School students has progressed to the next round of the Cornwall Youth Debates Competition after winning the district round last week.

The team of Safiyah, Stanley and Abby had previously won the Falmouth round of the competition and after progressing, faced four other teams at Camborne School in the debate topic of feminism.

The team came in first place and will now represent the school in the Cornwall/Devon heat at the end of this month.

English teacher Mrs Owen said:

"They were spectacular and such great ambassadors for school. I'm so proud of them and all of their hard work - they've researched, written and rehearsed their speeches every lunchtime since December.

"Fingers crossed their winning streak continues in the next round!"
