A Falmouth woman has called for action to be taken on speeding drivers following the death of two of her cats in the space of eighteen months.

Emma Paget, a Falmouth resident living in the Lamanva area, lost her cat Rocky last night after he collided with a speeding driver.

Emma has described Rocky as one of the nicest cats she had ever met, with a lovely temperament and without a nasty bone in his body.

Emma was able to thank the lady who witnessed the collision and informed her neighbour's of what had happened on social media.

Emma told Nub News:

"The lady pulled her car over but Rocky had been hit in the head by the car and he died in her arms.

"She came and knocked on the doors of the cottages that we live in and managed to get hold of my next-door neighbour and explained to her what had happened.

"My neighbour, Rachel, went out to see whose cat it was and knowing that it was Rocky, she picked him up from the side of the road and took him into her house until she was able to come and tell me yesterday morning."

The same incident happened in January last year with Emma's cat Storm.

Emma said: "A car had hit her and left her on the side of the road. A couple had found her on their way home and picked her up and took her to the vets to try and save her but it was too late.

"They came and knocked on our door the following morning, on my birthday, to tell us what had happened."

Emma lives with her family and is worried about future accidents being caused by reckless drivers through the villages.

"The speed that people drive through Lamanva and Treverva is way to fast," Emma said.

"I have young children and would hate to think of a car hitting them as well. An animal is bad enough but to hit a human would be unbearable.

"The speed limit along this road is 40mph but I think that it needs to be lowered to ensure that no one else loses a member of their family. To not stop and see if they could save the animals either is unforgivable in my eyes."
