Falmouth Week: Confirmed acts and schedule

Falmouth Week is one of the town's many major attractions, this year it will take place between Friday 4 - Sunday 12 August.

The origins of the event started as a local sailing regatta dating back at least as far as 1837. To this day the sailing traditions continue with racing starting on the first Sunday in 'Falmouth Week' and finishing on the following Saturday.

Alongside the sailing, the event now offers lots of entertainment during the days and the evenings. With all the acts now confirmed organsiers have shared the shoreside schedule for each day.

Friday 4 August - Pink Wig Event

The Pink Wig event is the first night of Falmouth Week and raises money for the Breast Care Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, and Breast Cancer Now, nationally.

Saturday 5 August - Falmouth Marching Carnival & Falmouth Soul Sensation

Falmouth Rugby Clubhouse will be the starting point for the carnival. Doors open from 11 am with registration opening from 3.00 – 5.30 pm managed by Falmouth Marine Band Cornwall. The Parade will leave the Rugby Club at 6.30 pm, heading down Killigrew Street and through The Moor, Webber Street, Market Street, Church Street, and Arwenack Street. The carnival will be followed up by live music from Falmouth Soul Sensation, the event will be free-to-enter and held at The Waterfront, Church Street Car Park starting at 7:30 pm. There will be upbeat and joy-filled music to help you dance the way with lots of soul classics.

Sunday 6 August - The Mariachis

The South American four-piece will be bringing the fiesta spirit to Falmouth. The Mariachis got their first taste of fame when they became the official band of the Doritos TV commercials singing pop classics with a Mexican twist.

Monday 8 August - Ian Broudie and the Lightning Seeds

The English band behind the iconic 'Three Lions' song is coming to Falmouth. Having just performed at Glastonbury in the summer the group is ready to place all the classics and some of their latest hits from last year's album.

Tuesday 9 August - Falmouth Rocks

A night filled with pure rock from both ACDC and Guns N' Roses tribute bands. 'AC/DC UK' are one of Europe's most electrifying tributes to the original group, while 'Guns 2 Roses' are the longest-running, closest looking, and most internationally recognised Guns n' Roses tribute band in the world.

Wednesday 10 August - The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club/RNLI Falmouth Fun Day

Craig Charles has transformed his career from the days of staring in the TV show Red Dwarf to becoming a radio DJ. Creating his Music Funk and Soul Show back in 2002 on BBC Radio 6, Craig Charles knows how to keep the crowd moving.

Keep an eye out on the Falmouth Week website and social media for details about RNLI Falmouth Fun Day which will feature the best-loved local charities like RNLI, the Seal SanctuaryCornwall Wildlife Trust.

Thursday 11 August - Ska Night

The Beat has been confirmed as the main act for Ska Night, a legendary band from Birmingham, their music fuses Latin, ska, pop, soul, reggae, and punk rock. Rudi's Message will be supporting The Beat, they are an established five-piece ska/two-tone tribute band based in Cornwall.

Friday 12 August - A Night of Queen & Fleetwood Bac/ Falmouth Week Fireworks

Queen and Fleetwood Mac cover bands will get the crowds singing their hearts out before the fireworks over Falmouth Harbour. The Bohemians, re-enact the glory days of Queen and are one of the most dynamic and exciting Queen Tribute Bands. Fleetwood Bac is the world's first and best Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band, endorsed by Mick Fleetwood himself.

Fireworks will then take place across Falmouth Harbour from 10 pm. There will be viewing points at Falmouth Harbour, Events Square, Custom House Quay, Prince of Wales Pier, and the Docks Lookout Point. If the weather is bad the display will be moved to Saturday 12 August.

Saturday 12 August - 80s - 00s Night

The final musical entertainment for Falmouth Week will be a night of pure pop nostalgia, with three well know acts performing. The first act confirmed was Lemar, he initially rose to fame after finishing third on the first series of the British talent show Fame Academy, he's a singer-songwriter with a focus on soul and R&B.

The second act confirmed is Betty Boo, a singer-songwriter, and rapper who will be bringing her high-energy performance in her dance-pop, hip-hop style. Many may remember Betty coming into the mainstream after a collaboration with the Beatmasters on the song "Hey DJ/I Can't Dance (To That Music You're Playing).

The final act confirmed is Judge Jules, who has been entertaining listeners for decades with the world of dance music on both Kiss FM and BBC Radio 1. Judge continues to entertainment millions with his weekly radio show The Global Warm Up.

Comic and Movie Fest - 12 & 13 August

The Comic and Movie Fest will also take place on both Saturday and Sunday at the Princess Pavilion. The festival will be a celebration of anime, movies, and comics.

There will be competitions, cos-players, stalls, refreshments, exhibitions, panels, ddemonstrations, and lots of fun for all ages.
