Falmouth University supports Fairtrade Fortnight with a number of events open to the public

This year Fairtrade Fortnight takes place from the 27th of February to the 12th of March and tried to promote making the switch to fairtrade supporters and producers in protecting the future of some of our most loved foods and the planet.

Falmouth University will be supporting the campaign by hosting an organising a number of events on campus, online, and around Falmouth. They have also been supported by Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth Fairtrade Town who have been on campus to talk to people about how they can get involved.

Roots & Shoots - Fruit & Veg Stall - Wed, 1 March 2023, 11:30 am – 15:00 pm

'Roots & Shoots' is an organic, no-dig market garden and independent greengrocer based only a few miles from Falmouth. They grow their own produce using organic and permaculture growing practices that respect the soil and natural world. Come along to their stall to bag some fruit and veg.

Falmouth Food Coop - Fruit & Veg Stall - Wed, 1 March 2023, 11:30 am – 15:00 pm

At its heart, 'Falmouth Food Coop' ('FFC') is a food hub selling groceries with the aim of making good food available to all and supporting local non-industrial farmers. Fast forward a couple of years, they're doing all this and more, running a Kitchen at the Princess Pavillions to feed those who need help, and starting up 'Loveland', a community field that grows food & collective spirit.

An intro to un_rap & living zero-waste - Wed, 1 March 2023, 14:00 pm – 15:00 pm

Head down to 'un_rap', Falmouth's zero-waste shop, for a talk and tour from founder and CEO Hannah Pearce! Whether you're a plastic-free warrior or keen to start out, Hannah will show you what's on offer at the shop and share some top tips on how to achieve quick, easy lifestyle changes that are good for Planet, people, and your pocket.

What makes a sustainable cup of coffee? - Thu, 2 March 2023, 15:00 pm – 16:00 pm

Besides Fairtrade, what other accreditations and practices do sustainably-minded coffee producers strive towards achieving? And as a consumer, what should we look out for and buy if we'd like to support coffee that does better for people and the planet? Join us for an open discussion with several local, Cornish coffee roasteries - there's bound to be tasters too.
