The Falmouth police team have advised motorists to be careful on the roads as heavy rain sets in.

Showers are expected to carry on for the rest of the week.

This afternoon, the rain will clear leaving some scattered showers behind, but there will also be some sunshine.

Tonight, there will be some clear spells and variable amounts of cloud at first. In the early hours, some scattered showers will develop over the region, heavy in places.

The Falmouth and Helston police team said:

"Adverse conditions in the Falmouth area with plenty of standing water and poor visibility. Please take care on the roads."

Tomorrow, there will be further scattered showers for many areas.

Cornwall fire and rescue service said:

"The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain & wind for Friday 2nd October.

"Please take extra care if travelling in these conditions."
