Last night, Prime Minister Boris Johnson laid down stringent new rules in a bid to battle Coronavirus.

Falmouth Town Council has responded today with the measures they will be taking to help contain the virus.

Falmouth Town Clerk Mark Williams said:

"Following the Government's additional restrictions to help combat the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak the Council have today taken the following steps.

"Closed all Council operated public conveniences this is to reduce the risk of infection and discourage the congregation of people in the town centre, parks and beaches.

"Closed all Council operated play areas. Whilst we are endeavouring to keep parks open for exercise, if the physical distancing restrictions required are not observed by users then these facilities may be closed also.

"Cancelled all markets on The Moor and all public access buildings remain closed to the public for the time being."
