Yesterday was an exciting day for Councillor Grenville Chappell and Falmouth Town Council as he was presented with a British Empire Medal.

The ceremony had been delayed due to coronavirus restrictions but Councillor Chappell was finally gifted the award on Thursday.

A spokesperson for Falmouth Town Council said:

"Colonel Bolitho the Lord Lieutenant, with Councillor Hilary Frank the Chairman of Cornwall Council in attendance, presented the medal to Grenville for his meritorious and long-standing service with the Penwerris community and as a former Mayor of the Council and former Cornwall Councillor.

"Grenville thanked June his wife and all those that had assisted him over the years. Fittingly June attached his medal. Congratulations Grenville, very well deserved."
