Dog fouling is high on the Council's Litterless agenda and thanks to the Council's new Community Enforcement Partnership Programme Civil Parking Enforcement Officers can now issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) for littering, dog fouling and dogs on beaches, as well as for parking offences.
Cornwall Council plans to step up anti-dog fouling activity even further over the next six months with improved signage.
Cornwall Council is piloting Keep Britain Tidy's 'We're watching you' anti-dog fouling campaign at hotspots across Cornwall.
The aim of the pilot is to see if it's as effective here as it has been elsewhere in the country before rolling it out more widely.
The Council has paid for 'We're watching you' signage and monitoring forms for 13 town and parish councils to test at dog fouling hot spots.
The signs feature a pair of glow in the dark eyes that remind dog owners that 'we're watching you'.
If the campaign proves successful at the 12 hot spots, the Council will look at rolling it out more widely, providing signage and monitoring forms to more towns and parish councils and also to interested community groups.
