Falmouth Sailing Week is set to go ahead this year after a format was agreed for the go-ahead of the competition.

Following a consultation with all potential competitors, the shape of Falmouth Sailing Week will be not what people are used to but the Port Of Falmouth Sailing Association says it is working under "exceptional circumstances."

A decision was taken in May to cancel shoreside events of Falmouth Week to protect the health and safety of the Falmouth residents, traders and visitors.

In an announcement this afternoon, a spokesperson for Port Of Falmouth Sailing Association said:

"The PoFSA organising committee has worked hard over the six months since the Notice of Race was published.

"After considerable consultation with potential competitors, all six sailing and yacht clubs and the PoFSA FSW team we have now agreed a format offering the community a great opportunity to race in fleet conditions under the RYA's guiding principals and the government's current Covid-19 legislation."

The sailing association also praised the support of sponsors for the support during a "difficult year" those include Ancasta Boat Sales, Mylor Yacht Harbour and Hine Downing Solicitors.

"We are planning Falmouth Sailing Week in the ethos of the RYA's guidelines of a conservative and considerate approach. This won't be what everyone wants but we have to work within exceptional circumstances and ask for cooperation," the sailing association added."
