Falmouth Rugby Family Reunion: Players old and new come together to celebrate 150 years

On Saturday 10th December over 300 families and players old and new came together in festive cheer as the Falmouth Rugby Clubhouse came to life for the inaugural Falmouth Rugby Family Reunion, an event that enabled members to come together and celebrate all those who have shaped the Club in its first 150 years.

Many awards were handed out across all generations young and old, male and female, ranging from acknowledgments for the people who work behind the scenes, sweeping the clubroom floors, washing the kit, preparing the pitch, and running the bar to those who are sustaining the future of the Club through either the youth section throughout to the seniors.

A toast was made by Club brand and social ambassador Danny Trick in memory of absent friends, while a new Rhys Pollard Player du jour award was presented to Treve Rowe by Chris Pollard and Paul Radmore on behalf of the Eagles 1XV.

Other honours were awarded to a select group coined the 1873 Club for services to social events over the years, James Instance Vice Chairman reflected on a special family reunion for the club, he said: "All in all, today was about celebrating the people and families who have and continue to shape our great Clubhouse, with a strong youth section and ladies contingent growing here at Falmouth Rugby Club, the futures bright, and we are all looking forward to building on this spirited occasion"

Jon Baglow the clubs player and comms secretary said: " It is amazing being part of a club with such a rich history, one of our members did an amazing job printing every team photo ever taken an added them to the clubhouse walls, people even got flights to be here for the reunion."

Now Falmouth looks forward to this year's boxing day derby at the Recreation Ground kicking off at 2:30 pm with live entertainment by local favourite Will Keating, so dust down your Christmas jumpers put on your Club colours, and join in for more festive cheer.
