Falmouth residents invited to take part in virtual pet competition

Falmouth residents are being invited to 'show off' their pets in a virtual pet competition in aid of charity.

On Saturday 23rd May, the virtual competition will be held to raise money for the South West Children's Hospice.

St Austell friends of South West Children's Hospice has had many of their fundraising events cancelled this year, so is inviting the county to have a bit of fun for a good cause during lockdown.

St Austell based organisers said:

"In the midst of lockdown, we wanted to raise some smiles and bring some virtual pet fun into your homes.

"After having to postpone many of our fundraising events, and most of us spending the majority of our time at home, we thought why not organise a virtual pet show so everyone can proudly show off their pets."

A £2 minimum donation will allow residents to join in one of five competition categories: dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and reptiles.

Instructions for entering:

• On Saturday 23rd May - look out for the time of the class(es) you want to enter and post a photo of your pet along with their name under the class status. You will have 20 minutes to upload a photo.

• 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners will be announced for each class after judging.The 1st prize winners will then be entered into the 'Best in Show' at 2.30pm, where previous winners can enter their favourite pet photo to win 'Best in show'.

• The 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners will receive their virtual rosettes for each class by Facebook messenger, and there will be a special prize for 'Best in Show'.
