Falmouth prepping for reopening with new social distancing markings

By Joseph Macey 16th Sep 2021

Next time you walk down the high street you might notice some new coloured markings on the pavements.

These are temporary chalk stencils reminding people to social distance safely, as non-essential shops look at re-opening on 15th June.

The markings were highlighted this morning by Jayne Kirkham Cornwall Councillor for Falmouth Smithick on a walk through Falmouth High Street.

As the town preps for a re-opening Jayne Kirkham is also asking for residents to highlight parts of the town that might need deep cleaning.

She said:

"We are trying to prep Falmouth town centre for re-opening. I saw this morning that many shops are repainting, cleaning etc.

"We need to know where deep cleaning is required on the street. If anyone can send me a message/photo showing an area that needs attention on the main street, that would be very helpful."

Other businesses were quick to highlight the new chalk markings, Oh My Goodness wrote:

"Think social Distance. Stay alert, stay safe."

The Cornish Store said:

"Follow the pink, blue, green and yellow road to the Cornish Store and on Monday 15th."
