Early plans have been revealed to expand a holiday village in Mawnan Smith, near Falmouth.

The expansion at Tresooth Holiday Cottages involves building a new reception area, manager's flat, relocating the games room and swimming pool, alongside the construction of new cottages.

The existing games room and office will then be turned into an additional one-bedroom cottage together with a new one-bedroom cottage to the south.

The site of the existing swimming pool will be developed into a terraced row of 3-bedroom cottages.

Elevations for the new structures would be in keeping with the existing properties and use a palette of local materials.

Submitting a pre-application, GW Architects on behalf of Tresooth Ltd added:

"If Cornwall Council supports the proposed expansion of the holiday village it will provide further employment opportunities, not only during construction but long-term opportunities for local people in roles of managing, maintaining, servicing, and cleaning of the units.

"By providing designated holiday units this will also assist in terms of the letting market which is currently suffering from an acute shortage of homes available to let for local people.

"Through having more holiday units available there will be less open market homes being offered for holiday use. The UK holiday market has a need for high-quality accommodation with on-site facilities and with the improvements and expansion proposed the site will appeal to a variety of holidaymakers and generate strong year-round occupancy."
