Falmouth MP Cherilyn Mackrory has reacted to the Sue Gray report - saying there are still areas that need addressing.

The much-awaited report points to 'failures of leadership and judgement' and excessive drinking at work during the height of the pandemic while many made sacrifices.

Gray explained that 16 events at Downing Street fell within her investigation's remit with 12 of those are currently being investigated by the Metropolitan Police - including three events previously not reported.

In response, MP for Truro and Falmouth Mackrory said yesterday was a "difficult day" in parliament, and after reading the report feels "we are no further forward".

She continued:

"I wholeheartedly support any recommendation for greater scrutiny and I am pleased to see the Prime Minister introduce plans to scale down the Prime Minister's office at Number 10 Downing Street and ensure much more engagement with MPs.

"It is not appropriate for me to comment any further ahead of the Met Police investigation.

"However, it is my sincere wish that Westminster would stop talking about itself and allow me to concentrate on delivering for the people of Truro & Falmouth."
